remember when...

quite some time ago, I posted this blog about my love for summer.

Over a year later, I've come back to this blog and was taken aback by the first image.

It's Thompson Auditorium at Cannon Park on Rutledge Ave., and less than 500 yards from my current home.

What really struck me was that in the time since that post, I have been doing research on the history of the Charleston Museum and its connections with the Classics Museum at the College of Charleston.  Strangely enough, after the collection was held at the museum, and before it came to call Meeting Street home, Thompson Auditorium served as Charleston's Museum (from 1906 to the 1970s to be more specific).

Unfortunately, a google search leaves much to be desired on more information about Thompson Auditorium and its magnificent history.

I love you Charleston.  Thank you for being so rich in history and reminding me daily that I am surrounded by it.

and so it begins...

exams start this coming wednesday.  and with this comes watching the sunrise... from inside the library, reading about things I don't understand but must somehow create an elaborate piece of scholarly work that illustrates this 'thing' {like what does the head of Saturn represent on a coin?  or why Roman women's dress was so influential on their husbands lives, or what the hell happened in Modern Africa???}, no clean underwear [as if laundry will be done], trying to finish hundreds of things with only a few hours to accomplish them, eating/drinking terrible stuff bc it's loaded with sugar and will help me see that sunrise.....

but in the end it will be alright because, when you think about it, it's just 1 test out of the rest of my life.  so even if I don't do the best, or things just don't go my way, I know that I'll be ok anyway.

btw......

only 18 days until I am in Greece!!!

needs.

Right now I need to feel this more than anything....

days upon days upon day upon days of reading, playing, hammocking, drawing, pianoing, no-shoeing, cooking, making, picnicing, hiking, exploring, just verbing.

So i say to the Romans:  leave me be. let me have my summer. let me have my good semester. let me have my sleep. let me have some silence.

sidenote: less than 22 days til i am en route to mecca Greece.

oh goodness me...

I've been feeling a little overwhelmed lately.  I shouldn't be, but I am.

All I want to do is::: read/be outside/paint/wear shorts & flops/go on adventures/play piano/be in greece!/etc....

I'm just trying to focus on what must be done immediately & the little exciting things coming up.  such as...

-Savannah, GA?!?
this morning I felt an overwhelming urge to go on an adventure.  So Justin & I are going to Savannah this saturday to explore the city, museums, and to have lunch w the lovely lady, Paula Deen.

-going home

I absolutely cannot wait to get home & give Goldie the biggest hug that I possibly can.

-GREECE
what I've been anticipating for 2 years.....

btw - it snowed last friday - in Charleston!  at least an entire inch! c:

it's a gaga day in the square

January 29th is Lady Gaga day.  And we celebrated with a dance party.

from 5 until 5:30 a crowd of monsters danced like we've never danced before.  It's was so cold & raining a little bit, but so worth it c:

Also, I turned in my study abroad app this afternoon - one step closer to Greece!
